Liveaboard FAQ

Frequently asked questions about liveaboard diving

Can my partner, friend and/or family join me?

Non-divers are welcome onboard all liveaboards, but will need to pay the same price as their diving counterparts. All services are available to them and they will be able to partake in snorkeling when allowed by the captain or dive guides. Please note that in certain areas the conditions are not suitable for snorkeling and therefore restrictions can be set upon these individuals.

Transfers - How do I get to the boat on arrival?

Scuba Travel works with very professional companies that arrange meet and greet, as well as transfers.

After picking up your baggage, the representative will escort you from the airport to the boat providing you with any important information. When it is time to depart from the boat, our representative will be there to return you to the hotel for your last evening. At that time you will be informed as to when you will be transferred from the hotel to the airport on the following day.

In Egypt, a Scuba Travel representative will greet you as you arrive to the airport, will give you the visa and help you through passport control before heading to the transfer vehicle.

Where will the Egyptian liveaboard depart from?

The boat will depart from Hurghada if you are doing a northern trip (classic cruise, wrecks & reefs).

If you are doing a southern trip (St Johns, Simply the Best, Brothers), the boat will depart from Port Ghalib, Marsa Alam or Hamata located approximately 300 km south of Hurghada.

The transfer to Port Ghalib takes about four hours by car (approximately six to Hamata).

What is included in the liveaboard package?

Scuba Travel has tried to include as much as possible so that there are no surprises upon arrival to the boat. The following is normally included in our packages (for Egyptian Red Sea Liveaboards):

• Flight from Scandinavia r/t including food
• All transfers
• Visa upon arrival (Egypt only)
• 6 nights accommodation onboard the boat
• 1 night accommodation in a hotel/ onboard the boat on the last day including evening meal & breakfast
• All meals, snacks, juice, coffee, tea, soft drinks and water on the boat
• All marine park fees and taxes
• Rental of 12L cylinder and weights

What is excluded in the liveaboard package?

Alcohol purchased on the boat or at the hotel, tips to the crew, snacks/ lunch on the day of the homeward bound flight, nitrox (only if not in your original offer), rental equipment not mentioned in your offer. The boats often have t-shirts and other merchandise for sale onboard that is not included.

Where will I be spending the last evening?

The last evening after a Red Sea liveaboard will be spent in a hotel (shared double room and half board) or onboard the boat. A single room is booked if our clients have booked a single cabin on the boat. Please note that a single supplement will be charged.

For liveaboards that depart in destinations with long haul flights (ie. Galapagos, Palau, etc), we recommend that clients have a minimum of two hotel nights before the liveboards departure date, and one night afterwards. This is to minimize the risk for flight and/ or baggage delays.
