Visayas - Southern Leyte

Southern Leyte is still a new location for diving, and holds many secrets waiting to be discovered. The 2,5 km coral garden on the west side of Tancaan Point can produce five different dives already! Besides the beautiful pristine coral gardens, which only get better as you go deeper, there are also drop-offs, lots of aquatic life and interaction with whale sharks, the gentle giants.

Season and weather
• Seven night charters run between January and March each year.
• Air temperature: 31C
• Sea temperature: 28C
• Average visibility: 30 meters

Cruise itinerary
Dive day 1: Padre Burgos. Wall and wreck diving. Big fish action.

Dive day 2: Sogod Bay North. We visit divesites as Bunga Bend and Whip City.

Dive day 3: Liloan Channel. We dive along the wall that drops down to 50 meters depth were giant gorgonian fans are abundant.

Dive day 4. Southern Point of Sogod Bay. Tankan and Santa Sofia has a fantastic array of colorful corals. Mandarin fish and batfish are frequent visitors here.

Dive day 5. Limasawa Island. Famous for its incredible diving. Adrians Cove dive site are 20 to 50 meters deep and have a dark eerie steep wall with massive table corals. Occasionally the hammerhead sharks comes by for a visit.

Dive day 6. San Francisco Bay/Sonok. Hopefully we will end our safari with a meeting with the giant whaleshark whilst snorkeling. Last year the chances of seeing this beautiful animal were great. Lets hope this year brings the same luck.

Land Excursions
Between dives on Limasawa Island you can go ashore on the west side at San Bernado. Here you can wander around the village or visit the shrine where the first Catholic mass was held, when Ferdinand Magellan (a Portuguese navigator and explorer) landed in March, 1521.
