Help me choose a destination!

I am not yet a qualified diver

For those of you that have yet to experience your first few breaths underwater, we have two options for you; you can do an entire PADI Open Water course at one of our shore-based hotels, or you can choose to do a referral course. A referral course allows you to complete the theory and pool sessions here in Scandinavia prior to your trips departure.

Excellent locations to learn to dive:

  • Egypt - Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Dahab, Sharm el Sheikh
  • Mediterranean - Croatia, Malta
  • Micronesia - Yap, Palau
  • Indonesia - Manado and Lembeh, North Sulawesi
  • Philippines - Puerto Galera, Cabilao
  • Caribbean - Curacao, Mexico

I am a newly qualified diver

For those of you eager to experience a liveaboard, we recommend a trip in the northern Red Sea. These holidays depart from Hurghada and include wrecks such as the Thistlegorm, Dunraven and Rosalie Moller, and reefs such as Abu Nuhas. Southern routes have minimum dive restrictions set upon them.

For those of you who prefer to stay in a hotel and make daily dives, Croatia, Malta, the Philippines, Yap, Curacao, Tobago, as well as Dahab, Hurghada, Marsa Alam or Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt are all quite suitable. The house reefs in and around these areas are very beautiful with a wide variety of marine life offering gentle dives to work on your skills, further your experience and give you confidence in your diving.

I am an experienced diver

Our Red Sea liveaboard itineraries are all suitable for your level of experience. For those of you who enjoy a mixture of wrecks and reef diving, try a trip which takes in most of the known wrecks in the northern Egyptian Red Sea including Thistlegorm, Rosalie Moller, and those around Abu Nuhas.

Or for the more adventurous, Sudan, with Cousteau’s underwater village, Umbria and the famous Shark highway is enough to excite even the most hardy divers. Royal Evolution sails within the Egyptian Red Sea, but also does a two week itinerary sailing from Egypt to Port Sudan, then returning back to Egypt, all the while stopping at many popular sites on the way.

Perhaps you are interested in traveling a little farther away. Then we suggest Cocos Islands or the Galapagos. Both offer exciting diving, beautiful nature and plenty of adventure.

You can easily combine one week on a liveaboard with a few days shore-based diving and relaxing n either the Maldives, the Philippines, Palau or Truk Lagoon.

And lets not forget Malta and her many wrecks. Just a short flight away, Scandinavian technical divers can appreciate the clear and much warmer waters and deep wrecks.
Another popular destination for technical divers is Dahab. Not only do you have the famous Blue Hole, but we can set you up on a free diving course with one of the world´s best. Learning free diving techniques as a technical diver can help you improve your air consumption, as well as adding to your well needed safety regime. Being able to surface on one breath from 30 meters helps to reduce fear and may just save your life.

If marine life and "bigger fish" are more your thing, try a visit to the southern Egyptian Red Sea., see Mantas in Yap or whale sharks in Mexico or the Maldives.

Photographer? The Philippines and North Sulawesi are famous for their rich diversity of marine life that will keep you in awe on every dive. Or perhaps coral spawning in Curacao or spotting Leatherback turtles swimming away from the shore after having laid eggs on the beach in Tobago is more your taste.

I like wrecks

For you wreck lovers out there, we highly recommend a liveaboard holiday to the northern red sea departing from Hurghada or to Truk Lagoon.

If a weeks vacation is all of have, then try a trip on one of our liveaboards, which takes in most of the known wrecks in the northern Red Sea including Thistlegorm, Rosalie Moller, and Giannis D.

If you have a longer vacation and want a real adventure, Truk Lagoon's multitude of wrecks can be visited by either liveboard or through daily diving.

If a liveaboard is not what you are looking for, then perhaps Malta is. With ships, planes and bombers sunk during WWII scattering the waters about the main island of Malta, freighters, tugboats and ferries that have been purposely sunk to form artificial reefs and ships that were not purposely sunk, but make great dives, abound Gozo and Malta.

I am on a Budget

Travel doesn’t have to cost a huge amount in order to be fun, safe and memorable. We have alternative hotels and dive packages to suit all budgets. Just let us know where you would like to go and how much you are willing to spend. Together we can find something that you will be pleased with.
As well, keep an eye on our special offers and last minute deals.

Hotel or Liveaboard?

Liveaboard: Regardless of whether you’re a beginner or very experienced, we have liveaboards to suit all levels. There are many benefits to choosing a liveaboard: waking up next to pristine reefs, reaching places farther away then the average day safari, and maximizing your holiday with up to 3-4 dives a day.

Our dive guides guide each dive and focus on taking you to some of the best places on the reefs, sharing with you their knowledge of the areas they dive all year round. Liveaboards are also ideal for anyone who is traveling alone as there is no single supplement charged for the boat. You share a cabin with another male/female who is also traveling alone.

Hotel: If you get seasick, will be taking your family or a non diving partner or friend, or enjoy exploring the country that you are visiting, then a hotel option would be an ideal holiday. We have various hotels at our destinations, which suit families, singles and a range of budgets. Although our packages are based on 5 days of diving, we can arrange alternatives based on your wishes.

Travelling Alone

We cater for all divers traveling independently. If you prefer to travel alone, then a iveaboard is a great option as there is no single supplement charged for the boat. We match you up with a person of the same sex to share a cabin with and a dive buddy of equal or equivalent experience. It may be that you join another buddy team for the week or dive with one of our dive guides.

If you choose a shore-based option, a single supplement will be added in addition to the basic cost of your holiday. If you would prefer not to travel alone, we recommend looking at our group trips. Please feel free to ask us for more information: info@scubatravel.se

I am travelling with a non-diver

Essentially, non-divers can travel wherever divers can, including on a liveaboard. Please note that the price for the liveaboard is the same for divers and non-divers.
If your non-diving partner enjoys snorkeling, then he can follow along on the same boat day trips that you make. Ultimately the decision is up to the non-diver to decide whether he enjoys being in the water or not. If not, a shore-based holiday would be recommended.

We are a group

Have you an idea to plan a trip with your dive buddies? We can cater for groups of all sizes. You can choose the holiday itinerary that you are looking, whether it is a special liveaboard trip, an adventure and dive package in the Philippines, Truk Lagoon or Tobago, or a technical wreck trip in Malta, and we can help to put it together for you. Contact us for more information: info@scubatravel.se

Can we take our children?

Children are welcome to follow their parents on any of our shore-based trips. We have special family hotel rooms at all destinations. Contact us for more information.
Why not get the over 10´s to do their Junior Open Water course? Once they have their certification, children are welcome to dive on our liveaboard holidays with parental supervision.
