Situated north of Grand Bahamas is Tiger Beach. Known for its clear and calm waters and considered among professional photographers/film makers as the best shark destination in the world. Here you will experience close encounters with tiger, lemon, and reef sharks and if you are lucky even more.
In March/April 2017, Magnus and a group of travellers from Scuba Travel and Exposure Expeditions travelled to the Bahamas, and they had an amazing week! Read Magnus' travel journal here. Below you can also find a short text about the 2017 trip written by one of the travellers.
"At the end of March we spent 8 days on the boat Dolphin Dream to dive with sharks at Tiger Beach outside Grand Bahama. In total, we had time for 26 dives, of which we had close encounters with sharks on all. We had, on nearly every dive, company of between three to eight tiger sharks, five bull sharks, the wonderful great hammerhead shark Patcher as well as countless individuals of lemon sharks and caribbean reef sharks. On a few occasions a lone nurse shark came to visit us. The strange and amazing thing about this trip was that all dives (except for the two initial check dives) were conducted at the same dive site at Tiger Beach. Since the maximum depth in the clear water at this site is only 11 meters, it was possible to get bottom times of up to six hours a day, and still you would long to get back down there the morning after.
The Dolphin Dream is a converted shrimp trawler which gives you the feeling of being on an expedition rather than on a liveaboard. The crew consists of Captain Scott, a chef and three dive guides. As the Dolphin Dream only accommodates 12 guests, it quickly leads to a convivial atmosphere and feeling of unity on the boat. A bonus on the trip was Scuba Travel's ambassador Magnus Lundgren who gave a number of highly appreciated presentations on underwater photography."
